ILA 2014: BO105 reaches 8 million flight hours

21 May 2014

The BO105 celebrated a unique milestone today at ILA 2014 – the achievement of 8 million flight hours by the global fleet in operation. The 8 millionth mile was flown by the world-renowned Flying Bulls, a group of aviation enthusiasts based in Austria who own two BO105s certified for aerobatic flight.

The BO105 is well-known for its reliability and famous for the spectacular aerobatic maneuvers it performs around the world with the Flying Bulls.

“It’s always nice to see the spotlight on a helicopter whose versatility, reliability and robustness advertise the quality of German helicopter construction around the world,” said Wolfgang Schoder, CEO of Airbus Helicopters in Germany.

Some 700 BO105 helicopters are in service today. With a history of more than 40 years, this helicopter has been a key asset for air rescue and police missions, oil and gas industry transport, and business travel.

Representatives of both Airbus Helicopters and the Flying Bulls gathered to mark the occasion.
